Everybody wants to save money. There are many ways to do so but you can start to save money at home right now with the SHOWERWIZARD!
Did you know the average shower in America is 8 minutes long? The EPA estimates that the standard shower heads use 2.5 gallons of water per minute. That’s 20 gallons of water for the average shower! Try shaving just one or two minutes off your shower to help reduce your water footprint.
Delivering, treating, and heating the hot water for your shower is also extremely energy intensive. The longer you run the hot water, the higher your energy use and utility bills rise. According to the EPA, letting your faucet run for five minutes uses about as much energy as letting a 60-watt light bulb run for 22 hours.
Using less water will not only lower your energy costs and conserve water, but will keep that water in the environment for natural geological and ecological cycles.
Take the challenge, here are five ways to measure a 7 minute shower
- Set a watch timer or watch the clock.
- Listen to any six minute song. “Living On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi. (It’s actually 4:09 minutes long so you will have less than a couple minutes extra ) or choose a song of your own.
- Sing the ABC’s 13 times.
- Count backward from 300—this is helpful, relaxing, and meditative!
- Use a shower timer.
How the SHOWERWIZARD Works to Save Money
The SHOWERWIZARD has easy installation instructions. Once installed and you turn the water on, you will have 6 minutes in which to take your shower than a water pulse occurs. It is enough of a pulse off and back on to notice. After the pulse warning, you will have that last bonus 1 minute of water then the water stops and can’t be restarted for 5 minutes.
Shorten your shower use and you will save money from the utility bills (water and electric). You’re also doing the planet a big favor by not wasting one of our greatest natural resources, water!
